The Long Distance Couple

The bride and groom resided out of state and wanted to celebrate their union with family and friends in Ohio so our communication took place via cell. It was almost two months before their May reception, plenty of time. The couple invited 30 guests and the festivities were set to take place in an event space at a trendy bar near downtown Cleveland. The venue’s pressed tin ceilings, burgundy curtains, original wood planked floors, live edge tables, and natural wood seating blended well with the bride’s vision—vintage, timeless.

Accents for fresh flower centerpieces was a priority and the bride specifically requested several small vignettes that would incorporate vintage typewriters. And, oh, “do you have old picture frames,” she asked. The gathering was small, but the reception needed to be memorable.

After texting the bride pictures of vignettes, vintage frames, and vases, and implementing what we knew of the couple into the design, a vision began to take shape….The couple knew each other in graduate school and became reacquainted over social media years later so we chose antique telephones, books, a globe, and suitcases from our prop shop as a nod to their distant relationship. Per the bride’s request, two typewriters adorned the space, as well as additional accent pieces.

The stage is set….
